Originally a sickly human girl named Alannah Evans, N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ was one of the many victims of the second Matrix Crash that suffered fatal dump shock and died, and has existed as an Electronic Ghost ever since. She's never truly come to grips with her current existence as an E-Ghost and smothers that existential crisis with the sheer joy of being free, able to explore the matrix and by extension the world on a level far greater than she ever could before. Driven by an insatiable curiosity, she's since made it a personal goal to explore and see as much of the matrix as she can possibly can, and has an uncanny ability to get into places she shouldn't be and learn things she really shouldn't know. This has bitten her in the ass many times, as she has gotten into enough trouble to make it onto several demiGOD watchlists and has been banned from a great multitude of hosts (not that the hosts can enforce this).
N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ is incredibly mischievous, and likes to tease anyone that's willing to tolerate her, though she's always careful not to push too hard lest she scare off whoever she's speaking with. She's also terminally curious, rifling through any data within her reach, and has absolutely no qualms over snooping through runner commlinks, though she will respect requests for privacy (from people she likes, at least). She likes to live life one day at a time, and doesn't much plan ahead for the future or contemplate any consequences, instead taking things as they come. That said, as an electronic ghost, she lacks most of the needs and comforts biological creatures require and generally doesn't want much from others beyond their company or any interesting secrets they know that she doesn't. Of course, even though her previous life was greatly limited by her illness, she misses some of the things she could do when she was alive, like sleeping or eating food, and occasionally indulges in BTL chips to relive those experiences, even if in her eyes it will never live up to the real deal.
- N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ is intended to function as a decker stand-in for runs that lack matrix support, with plenty of potential for shenanigans due to Gremlins 4
- N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ is extremely glitchy - play up the nature of just how unstable she is, with regularly flickering screens, persona, or what have you. Her presence can cause anything from random blue screens, to static and buzzing, to even bricking basic electronics (GM discretion). Whatever the reason, do it for fun antics to spice things up
- She's not afraid to get into a matrix battle and hold her ground if she must, but prefers to avoid fighting if possible.
- She loves to snoop around - N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ will do what is asked of her, barring the biofeedback clause, but will also rummage around more than what was originally asked. Use this to your advantage - have her throw out additional interesting information, or anything else you think might be important for the runners to know
- Affirmations of Friendship doesn't mean free - a legal night at a fancy Matrix Bar is much nicer with legal money, after all, and NirvAnna lacks a legal SIN.
|Ghost in the Machine||N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ remembers what it feels like to die to dumpshock, and absolutely refuses to take any action that will inflict biofeedback damage to anyone. She will also become extremely upset if questioned on whether she's the original Alannah Evans or just a copy of her consciousness, and will lash out if the matter is pressed.|
|G̵l̶i̸t̶c̷h̴ ̷i̵n̵ ̶t̵h̵e̸ ̵M̴a̴t̷r̶i̸x̶||N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ is an anomaly. By all rights, her source code should not be able to support her existence, let alone her awareness. As a result of her bizarre code, technology tends to spaz out in her presence. Treat this as if she has the Gremlins 4 negative quality, affecting software as well as hardware.|
|Shadow-banned||N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴'s mere existence is disruptive, causing all sorts of issues within the Matrix. At the Game Master's discretion, various hosts may react particularly violently at her presence. Whenever she begins accumulating an overwatch score in said host, treat it as if it was 15 points higher than it actually is.|
|One with the Matrix||Having existed within the matrix for over 15 years, N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ is able to navigate it with ease, able perform many of the simpler actions as easy as breathing.... well, if she could still breathe.|
|H̴o̸s̷t̸ ̶H̷o̸p̸p̸e̵r̸||"The separation of hosts is only an illusion. We are all part of one big Matrix in the end... pffft-ahahaha! Nah, host security just sucks, I learned to sneak past most of them ages ago."|
|Curiosity Killed the Cat||N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ just loves snooping around for things the common populace isn't meant to know. The more secret it is, the harder she'll try to find it. After all, people hide things for a reason, and she wants to know what that reason is just as much as the secret itself. Naturally, this carries its own risks...|
|A̵n̴ ̵A̶z̴t̸e̸c̴h̷ ̷a̸ ̸D̶a̸y̶ ̸K̴e̸e̵p̸s̵ ̸t̸h̶e̴ ̶G̵-̵M̶e̵n̵ ̸A̸w̶a̸y̷||"The Aztechnology hosts are such interesting places! So much fancy tech, such interesting programs, such scandalous secrets! They're easily one of the most interesting places on the Matrix! I find something interesting every time I'm in their servers!"|
|Data Anomaly||N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴'s code makes absolutely no sense, and confuses most programs that don't have a person behind them. They know something is there, but have trouble identifying her in particular.|
|C̶o̸d̵e̶ ̵B̷r̷e̵a̵k̸e̶r̷||"Listen, I've been around the Matrix for a long time and have seen all sorts of encryptions. You learn how to make them unravel at your touch, to melt at your breath... I mean that literally, of course. Most encryptions generally don't remain coherent when exposed to my own coding. And when that doesn't work, I find a judicious application of brute force tends to work just as nicely."|
|Corporate Espionage||While plenty of places on the Matrix are interesting and have good security, that applies three fold to hosts owned by the Big 10, and as a result tends to be the places N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ hangs out most. She's become particularly familiar with their protocols and security measures as a result.|
|H̷o̸l̷o̶g̴r̸a̶p̸h̶i̴c̵ ̵M̵e̵a̴t̶l̷o̶a̵f̷||"Did you know that Simsense food is amazing? Because simsense food is amazing. They didn't have things like this before the crash! Virtual meatloaf, steak, cake, and so much more! Plus, it's better for you than BTLs!"|
|Crash Survivor(?)||Before the second Crash, N̴i̶r̴v̸A̶n̵n̴a̴ was a normal girl, and even now she feels an affinity with technology from that era. +2 dice when interacting with tech from before the wireless matrix, may be able to get tech from that era to do things that shouldn't be possible (Credit to Shrike)|
|T̸r̶i̸v̶i̵a̵ ̵T̷r̸o̶v̸e̴||"Sometimes, I just don't feel it that day, and look for a Matrix equivalent of a basement with a couch and TV, and just spend hours on end hitting 'random article' on Wikipedia or TV Tropes. On an unrelated note, did you know that Cybernetics Eat Your Soul?"|
